Everyone is aware of the respiratory system, nervous system, and digestive system, but what about the endocrine system? This often forgotten system of glands and organs controls the majority of our body processes.
This set of colorful magnetic pieces illustrates the organs of the endocrine system and their location in our bodies. A game designed using some of the manipulatives allows students to play the role of endocrine glands or receptor cells. As they play, students discover the importance of the endocrine system, the function of glands, the hormones they secrete, the target organs or cells of the hormones, and their effect on these cells. Developed by Heather Joyce, this manipulative set is aligned with National Standards. Grades 8–12. Includes instructions and five sets of manipulatives.
