Just connect a laboratory signal generator (not included) to the 4mm sockets of the integral vibration transducer, adjust the tension in the string to the required value by sliding the spring balance assembly and away you go.

This apparatus provides a test bed for investigations into the characteristics of sound waves. A sensitive microphone on a linear scale allows for measurements to be taken along the path of the wave emanating from a small loudspeaker acting as the sound generator.
