Electricity and magnetism
Electric Field Apparatus
Electric Field ApparatusA simple model for demonstrating electric fields between various electrode configurations. Place liquid paraffin in the 90mm petri dish and sprinkle semolina or fine grass seed (not supplied) on the surface.
Electromagnetic System
Electromagnetic SystemA self-contained unit allowing students to study the effect of current and number of coils on the strength of an electromagnet.
Electrostatic Plastic Strips[20]
Electrostatic Plastic Strips[20]A pack of 20 strips each measuring 200 x 25 x 2mm. Ten are polycarbonate and ten are polystyrene. When the strips are rubbed with a cloth they acquire opposite electrostatic charge for investigations into attraction and repulsion.
Electrostatic Stirrups Pk 10
Electrostatic Stirrups Pk 10Brass wire holders for supporting plastics strips in electrostatics experiments. Ten per pack supplied with a reel of monofilament nylon for hanging.
Faraday’s Law Apparatus
Faraday’s Law ApparatusThis system provides a simple and effective method of studying Faraday’s Law. An acrylic tube supports an easily moved coil so that a small cylindrical magnet (supplied) can be dropped down the tube to generate a pulse of electricity as it passes through. An oscilloscope is used to monitor the pulse and measure its amplitude.
Force on a Conductor Apparatus
Force on a Conductor ApparatusThis is a traditional piece of equipment for demonstrating the effect of a current flowing in a conductor in the presence of a magnetic field.
Hall Effect Probe
Hall Effect ProbeThe unit is ideal for measuring magnetic fields ranging from strong, permanent magnets down to weak fields such as that of the Earth.
Jockey
JockeyAn ergonomically designed sliding contact for use with the Resistance Wire Boards or Potentiometers. Constructed from black nylon with a brass spade contact at the lower end. Connection is by 4mm socket at the top.
Joule Gun
Joule GunThis highly original apparatus offers an exciting application of topics such as energy storage, capacitor charging, mechanical energy, efficiency and electromagnetism.
Lost Volts
Lost VoltsThis ‘Lost Volts’ apparatus provides a convenient solution for experimentally determining the internal resistance and the EMF of a cell.
The unit requires connection to a 6V DC source of EMF, a voltmeter and an ammeter.
Lost Volts Separates
Lost Volts SeparatesA pack of 5 convenient and appropriately rated mounted components to enable students to carry out an experiment to determine the EMF and internal resistance of a cell.
Magnetic Field Unit 15 Turn Solenoid
Magnetic Field Unit 15 Turn SolenoidSee LA10-160
Magnetic Field Unit Vertical Wire
Magnetic Field Unit Vertical WireClear acrylic base assemblies which are suitable for bench or overhead projector use.
Modular Circuits Battery
Modular Circuits BatteryThe battery module contains a holder that accepts one AA battery (not included). Compatible with all Modular Circuits kits.
Modular Circuits Buzzer
Modular Circuits BuzzerThe buzzer module produces sound when a DC voltage is applied to the terminals. The buzzer is polarized and will only produce a sound when a positive voltage is applied to the positive terminal. When 2-3 V is applied, the buzzer will produce a sound with a frequency of 2300 ± 400 Hz. Compatible with all Modular Circuits kits.
Modular Circuits Capacitor, 0.33 F
Modular Circuits Capacitor, 0.33 FThis module contains a 0.33 F super capacitor. The capacitor is polarized, requiring that the positive side of a voltage source is applied to the positive terminal of the module. You can use this capacitor with a light bulb module to observe the light bulb dimming as the capacitor is discharged. Compatible with all Modular Circuits kits.
Modular Circuits Coil, 1000 Turn
Modular Circuits Coil, 1000 TurnA coil module for the Modular Circuits kits.
Modular Circuits Corner
Modular Circuits CornerThe corner module is used to connect various Modular Circuits components. Compatible with all Modular Circuits kits.
Modular Circuits Diode
Modular Circuits DiodeThe diode module contains a PN junction diode that allows current to flow in only one direction. Current will flow when a negative voltage is applied to the side of the diode marked with the grey ring. The arrow on the diode symbol indicates the direction of conventional current. Compatible with all Modular Circuits kits.
