Description

Each strip has test pads that change color in the presence of the substances in question. After the strip is dipped in the sample, the result is read by comparing the color with the scale on the container. The strips can also be used to test other aqueous solutions, as long as they are not strongly colored.

Use of the product

In teaching, the test strips can be used in biology and nature/technology to demonstrate how to detect substances in biological fluids. For example, students can examine glucose in a solution with sugar or protein in solutions of, for example, milk. This provides a concrete link to topics such as digestion and health.

A simple student experiment could be to have students test different foods in aqueous solution and see how the test strips react. This way, students can practice observation, data collection, and interpretation.

In practice, urine test strips are used in the healthcare sector as a rapid screening tool for diabetes (glucose in urine) or kidney disease (protein in urine). They are used by doctors, nurses and laboratories as part of simple diagnostic tests.

A practical tip is to instruct students in correct use: dip briefly, tap off excess liquid, and read within the specified reaction time to get a reliable result.
