This small solar collector is a simple and clear model that introduces the fundamental concepts. The solar thermal collector operates with a stationary amount of water that is heated when the rays of the sun hits a black aluminium absorber.

The outer enclosure is constituted by a sturdy Gratnells tray. Several solar collectors can be stacked for storage.
