Educational kit demonstrating a saltwater fuel cell with magnesium plates and aqueous electrolyte (salt accelerates the reaction).
Description
The kit drives the supplied small motor with propeller. As the Mg oxidizes during operation, the magnesium plate must be replaced after a number of attempts (replacement plates: item no. 452938).
Use of the product
The sweet is suitable for energy and electrochemistry courses to investigate how chemical energy is converted into electrical work. Students can measure voltage/current, compare the effect of salt concentrations and discuss reaction schemes as well as material consumption and sustainability.
