Mitosis, root tip of onion (Allium cepa)
The classic root tip preparation that shows the different phases of mitosis – i.e. normal cell division.
The micro-preparation shows the root tip of an onion and is colored so that the different stages of mitosis are shown.
The preparation is a clear and instructive teaching preparation. After the students have read and learned about the individual division stages, you can let them find the stages in the preparation and take pictures of them.
Alternatively, the preparation can be used as a demonstration preparation in connection with the teaching of cell division.
