Globe, magnetic
Globe with built-in bar magnet makes it possible to demonstrate the Earth’s magnetic field in a modeled scale. The globe diameter is 11 cm and is made of hard plastic coated with a map of the globe. The magnet is fixed in a holder so that field lines can be examined with, for example, a magnasonde or compass. Please note that no holder or base is included with the globe.
Use of the product
In physics and geography, students can map field directions, identify poles, and relate observations to phenomena such as compass navigation and the magnetosphere. The model can support conversations about sun-earth interactions and the importance of space weather. The principle reflects demonstration sets that can also be used in science centers to communicate about magnetism.
