Conical pendulum
The uniform circular motion of the conical pendulum allows the following to be investigated: centripetal force vs radius of orbit, centripetal force vs orbital period and determination of g. The disc moves almost without friction on its ball bearing, while the bob’s angle with the vertical is read on the graduated, balanced disc. The pendulum’s length can be varied using four interchangeable wires with hooks.

The equipment comprises:
• Centre mount and dial with ball bearing
• Three different lengths of strong, inelastic thread with hooks
• Aluminium bob with centre of mass marking
